About the Engineering Design & Development Services
Engineering Design and Development Services (EDDS) consists of the North Shop area and the South Shop area. We provide the following services to the College of Engineering and the University:
- Teaching/Instructional Support
- Assistance for Student Projects
- Engineering Design
- Research Support
- Machining, Welding, and other Fabrication
- Electrical Equipment Repair and Support
- Shipping and Receiving for the College of Engineering
The South Shop area is located in 1329 Bainer Hall and is set up primarily as a manufacturing machine shop. The North Shop area is located in 1220 Bainer Hall and is set up primarily as a shop for use by faculty, staff, and students. Both of these areas are state-of-the-art facilities including computerized machine tools, complete welding capabilities, and a Wood and Plastics Shop. Faculty, staff, and students who have completed the safety/general machine tool training may use the North Shop area. To have design, development, machining and fabrication services performed by EDDS staff, you must complete a service request providing a DaFIS account number and an authorized signature.
Hourly rate for Design Engineering is $62 per hour.
Hourly rate for Fabrication is $46 per hour.
